The Great Commission
Go and Make Disciples.
As followers of Christ, we are given the incredible privilege and command to share the life-changing truth of the Gospel with the world. This site is a resource to encourage and equip us all to embrace this calling.
The Human Element
Why Do Christians Struggle to Share?
Despite the command, many faithful believers find themselves reluctant or fearful when it comes to expressing their faith to others. This is a common, but not insurmountable, challenge.
-
1. Fear of Rejection or Conflict
We worry about being mocked, judged, or losing relationships. The desire for social acceptance often outweighs the spiritual urgency of the message.
-
2. Feeling Inadequate or Unprepared
The belief that we don't know enough theology or Scripture to answer tough questions. We feel pressured to be a flawless apologist rather than a simple witness.
-
3. Concern Over Hypocrisy
The internal battle of feeling that our actions don't fully align with the message we preach, leading to silence out of shame or guilt.
-
4. Mistaken Understanding of "Love"
Confusing being agreeable with being loving. We may withhold the truth for fear of offending, forgetting that the Gospel is the ultimate act of love.
-
5. Lack of Urgency
Forgetting the eternal stakes and the profound difference the Gospel made in our own lives, which diminishes the motivation to share it with those who need it.
-
6. Cultural Pressure and Secularism
In an increasingly secular society, sharing a faith-based message is often seen as taboo or politically incorrect, increasing the barrier to speaking up.
The Simple Truth
What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
1. God is Holy; We are Sinners.
God is the perfectly holy Creator of all things. Humanity, created in His image, chose to rebel (sin), and this sin separates us from Him. Because God is just, sin must be punished, and the penalty is eternal death and separation.
2. Jesus Christ Lived, Died, and Rose.
The Gospel is the good news that God, in His love, sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, who was fully God and fully man. Jesus lived the perfect, sinless life we could not live, and then offered Himself as the substitutionary sacrifice on the cross, taking the penalty for our sin. He conquered death by rising on the third day.
3. Salvation is by Grace Through Faith.
Salvation is a free gift, not earned by good works. It is received only through faith—turning from our sin (repentance) and trusting in Jesus alone for forgiveness and eternal life. When we believe, we are reconciled with God and declared righteous in His sight.
Eternal Significance
Why the Gospel is Such Great News
The Gospel is not just historical fact or moral teaching; it is the source of all ultimate hope for the present and the future.
Reconciliation with God
The greatest news is that the relationship broken by sin has been restored. We are now children of God, free from condemnation, and can approach our Father with confidence.
Purpose and Power Today
We receive the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live a life of holiness, grow in Christ-likeness, and participate in God's mission, giving our lives eternal significance right now.
Eternal Hope for the Future
The resurrection of Jesus guarantees our own resurrection and eternal life in a new heaven and new earth where sin and suffering are no more. This future hope secures us against all despair.
